INSPIRATION
This is the actual art deco masterpiece built in the early 1930s in Bisbee, Arizona to serve as the Cochise County Courthouse. It is featured as background on the cover of Penny's Luck and will also be featured in the rest of the Copper Stars series.

Huachuca is a Spanish effort at a Native American word used by tribes in this area and is loosely translated "where the thunder walks." One night I was taking lightening pictures and when they were processed this amazing image appeared in one shot. I call it my gift picture, a likeness of the Spirit of Huachuca-a sight showed to few because it is so awesome!

These are samples of beautiful Navajo weaving exhibited in
the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. They are my inspiration
for the designs used in this site and part of the background inspiration
for Powerful Medicine. Every weaving has one small error intentionally
woven into the design. The Navajo believe that a perfect pattern
would be their last, so they take no chances!

This is a view of the old parade grounds at Fort Huachuca.
The houses date back to around 1900 or even earlier and served
as quarters for the officers on the 10th Cavalry. The home shown
here is the Commanding General's quarters. A similar scene is
what Andy sees the day she meets Colonel Costain and where the
change of command and retirement ceremonies take place.

Another scene with either Vigilantes or The Wild Bunch marching
in the Helldorado Days parade. Tombstone loves parades and has
one on any excuse! Wouldn't most of us really like to 'play dress
up' and reenact an adventure from the past? This is probably the
secret behind the success of many such groups to include the Society
for Creative Anachronism, The Bill Williams Mountain Men and many
others who don archaic clothing and have a fun time!

This is a view almost out my back door and very much the way
I picture Lawton Kane's ranch looking in The Man in Black. The
mountains in the background are the Whetstone Range, rugged, mostly
roadless, and a good rock-hounding place!
